Interesting!
I never found out, what the actually Voltage for the tubes is.
It says 14kV in the video description and the he he used a ccfl inverter.
If that is is the case it could be really simple to build your own transformer. I will look into this!

Would be an awesome solution to carry an LiPo battery in a small box in a counterweight pouch on the helmet.

A important note to the ciriut diagram the capazitor should be 1nf.

Have you actually build a transformer?
I am thinking about abandoning the driver project and focus on the transformer instead to reduce overall weight.

Really hope that you can succeed! .. I would like to pay a pretty penny for a smaller and better transformer (li-po ready).

"li-po ready" is such a stupid marketing phrase. 
There is nothing special about a lipo, any circuitry is lipo ready by default.

If anything, it should be the other way around: "non-lipo ready". Because compared to lipo, other batteries have a very limited maximum power output.
